Mental Health First Aid (“MHFA”) is the help provided to a person developing a mental health problem or already in a mental health crisis. Just a first aid is administered to an injured person before medical treatment can be obtained, MFHA is given until appropriate treatment is found or until the crisis is resolved.
Course participants will learn how to recognize signs that a person may be experiencing a decline in their mental well-being or are in a mental health crisis. This eight hour course starts with a two hour self-directed module (Module I) that focuses on the information and strategies that participants will discuss and practice throughout the virtual classroom modules. Course participants are required to complete Module I before participating in the additional modules.
The two online modules (Modules II and III) will be split into two sessions, each three hours in length. Upon registration, participants will receive the MHFA Participant Reference Guide that outlines MHFA actions for developing mental health and substance use issues, along with mental health and substance uses crises.
The cost for this course is $195 and a Certificate of Completion will be provided upon successful completion.
