6:00 am to 6:00 pm
1 Midland Street
During the 6th annual Taking Stigma to the Trash run, Winnipeg community runners have set a goal to run 12 hours to raise awareness about mental health and the stigma that can be associated with mental illness.
Taking Stigma to the Trash started with Junel Malapad and began in light of a personal connection to mental health tragedies in the community. This event grows every year and is now a community initiative involving multiple runners working together to #TrashStigma for mental health. We want to see all you walkers, joggers, marathoners, parents, kids, and dogs- really, we want everyone – to join them in Taking Stigma to the Trash on Garbage Hill to support the Canadian Mental Health Association Manitoba and Winnipeg!
Proceeds raised in Taking Stigma to the Trash will fund school-based mental illness literacy and stigma reduction programming in schools and post-secondary institutions and programs for youth transitioning out of the child welfare system.
